Radio Warneford broadcasts a wide variety of programmes for patients and staff at Warwick Hospital. These feature music, comedy, information, sport, films, cookery, gardening, poetry, short stories and much more. At present, Radio Warneford is on-air between 7pm and 10pm on weekdays, 9.00am and 11.00am on Saturdays and between 10am and 9pm on Sundays. Our most important programme is the daily Request Show. Our Ward Visitors go round the hospital each evening to chat to patients and their visitors and to collect requests for the programme later that night. Patients can also make use of their own free Request Line to make a request. Patient Information is broadcast each weekday evening between 7pm and 8pm. It provides patients with details of some of the services available to them within the hospital and spotlights the work of other organisations like the Red Cross and the League Of Friends of Warwick Hospital.
Radio Warneford also mounts special broadcasts regularly throughout the year. These range from one-off programmes like the special Request Shows on Mother's Day and Father's Day to a full day of programmes for Bank Holidays. At Christmas, we broadcast around seventy hours of festive programmes over nine or ten days!
We also mark other events and anniversaries. In recent years, these have included The Queen's visit to Warwick in 1996, the 20th anniversary of the death of Elvis Presley, the 50th anniversary of the National Health Service, the Centenary of Nursing and National Poetry Week. Below there is a list of forthcoming special broadcasts on Radio Warneford. Full programme details are normally made available approximately three weeks in advance of each broadcast. There is also an archive of programme details from some of our recent broadcasts so you can find out what we've been up to.
