Date: 3 May 2002 Radio Warneford To Stage 24 Hour Radio Warneford, the award-winning hospital broadcasting service based at Warwick Hospital, is to stage a 24-hour Request Show as part of Hospital Broadcasting Week. The station will go on air at 8pm on Friday 10th May and broadcast nothing but requests, non-stop for 24 hours. The broadcast, from the station's studios at Warwick Hospital, will feature interviews and requests from patients, staff, local people and Radio Warneford members. There will also be lots of competitions and a game of the ever-popular Bedside Bingo. Two of Radio Warneford's members, Rachel Baker and Nicky Lawson, are being sponsored to stay at the station for the full 24 hours. Radio Warneford's Station Manager, Ley Bricknell, says "The Request Show is always the most popular programme on Radio Warneford and it is what hospital radio does best, so it is fitting that our contribution to Hospital Broadcasting Week will be 24 hours of nothing but requests - from patients, hospital staff, Radio Warneford members and local people." The 24 Hour Request Show is just one of a number of events taking place across the UK as part of Hospital Broadcasting Week, which starts on Saturday 4th May, to highlight the contribution that hospital radio stations across the country make to their local communities. Note For Editors Hospital Broadcasting Week is organised by the Hospital Broadcasting Association, an umbrella organisation representing almost 300 hospital radio stations in the UK and a number of others around the world.
