Radio Warneford is looking to strengthen its team of retired people, or those with time on their hands, who visit patients on the wards during the afternoons.
Although Radio Warneford's members visit the wards each evening, there is often not enough time to chat about the pieces of music or comedy sketches that the patients may like to hear later that day. "This way," says Station Manager Ley Bricknell, "we can spend quality time with a patient, lightening their day. In some cases, it may be that we are the only visitor the patient has that day. I know a lot of people are interested in joining us but are not particularly interested in broadcasting programmes. This way, they get to help other people and also strengthen our membership" All new Ward Visitors will receive full training.
