Christmas Fun At Radio Warneford
Radio Warneford entertained patients and staff throughout Christmas and the New Year with more than 65 hours of special programmes.
Our live Christmas Day programme included calls from Radio Warneford's patrons, the Mayors of Warwick, Leamington and Kenilworth. The Chief Executive of Warwick Hospital, Glen Burley, visited the studio with his wife to broadcast a Christmas message to patients.

From left to right: Doreen Chand (for arranging lots of prizes and donations for fundraising events); Andrew Barker (for responding quickly to engineering faults); Louise Drinkhall (for all of her work on revising the Constitution and Policies); Clare Spiers (for all of her work on revising the Constitution and Policies); Margaret Legge (for her "Talking On Air" workshop and for giving talks to local organisations); Paul Chand (for taking on the role of Membership Secretary and for his donation of computer equipment); Sara Lister, Radio Warneford's Chairman, who presented the Awards. Other members who received Awards but were not present: Viv Lambert (for raising lots of funds by selling unwanted items at car boot sales); Adrian Newell (for his excellent PA work at Snitterfield and our Acoustic Nights); Denzil McClean (for visiting the patients every week to chat about our service and hand out our special schedules); Judith Ratcliffe (for her interviews with celebrities and dignitaries); Nivi Morales (for single-handedly arranging our two Acoustic Nights).
Charity Acoustic Night Radio Warneford's second Charity Acoustic Night took place on a very muggy evening at Dockers Diner in The Assembly, Leamington Spa.
Once again, we enjoyed a night of fantastic music with Ben Clempson, The Session and Men In Caves each performing sets during the evening.
Radio Warneford would like to thank Dockers Diner for staging the Acoustic Night for us and to all of the acts who came along and supported us on the night.
Snitterfield Village Fête Despite a 15 minute rain shower, this year's Snitterfield Village Fête was fun from start to finish.
Radio Warneford arrived at 10.30ish and we had central place in the Marquee next to the Arena. Andrew, our engineer, set up his gear and four speakers were placed around the field. At 12.30 Clare Spiers rang from the station and a chat took place about what was going on live on air to the patients at Warwick Hospital.
Adrian Newell was in his element, especially when it came to compering the Tug of War, where he got the crowd going with Dads versus Sons! He also gave a spontaneous cabaret singing along to the keyboard and sax of the live band we had next to us in the marquee. Chairman Sara Lister also got some laughs when she was talking up the forthcoming Agility Dog Training event by saying "You'll have fun watching them go up the ramps and through tunnels, and that's just the dog owners!"
Gaye Hillier, one of the organisers, said "Thank you for coming along. You have a fab team. What a great day" Here's to 2010!
